Description

Mr. JO Electrokot-HB is a two-part epoxy coating. It is solvent-free and high-build. This makes it strong and effective. It also provides good insulation and high dielectric strength. So, it protects electrical parts and lasts long. Plus, it is easy to use and resists damage. That is why it is a great choice for many applications.

  • Color : Sky Blue
  • Pot life @25°C: 20-40 mins
  • Mixing Ratio: 100:20 PBW
  • Dielectric strength : upto 12 kv/mm
  • Mixture consistency: Medium viscosity liquid
  • Coverage : 4 m2/kg/coat
  • Optics: Opaque
  • Coil coating
  • Induction Furnace
  • Electrical Insulation
Surface Preparation
  • Surfaces should be freed from laitance and dust by sand-blasting. In case sand blasting is not possible, thorough abrading with a hard wire brush should be preferable.
  • Suitable degreasing agent should be used to remove any grease, oil or traces on the surface.
Application Method
  • Repair the surface if damaged. Allow 2-3 hours for surface of repaired area to dry. Choose a suitable product from Jpoxy’s JO range of Adhesives for repairing.
  • Mix all the two components provided in kit thoroughly for at least 2minutes. Apply the mix directly by pouring and spreading with the help of trowel.
  • Allow 5-6 hour for surface to dry and 24 hours to achieve full strength coating.
Q1. What is MR. JO Electrokot – HB used for?

A1. MR. JO Electrokot – HB is a blue, high-build epoxy insulation coating designed for use on:

  • Induction coils and windings
  • Electrical busbars and terminals
  • Switchgear panels and enclosures
  • Switchroom floors and control room demarcations
Q2. What is the dielectric strength of this coating?

A2. It offers approximately 12 kV/mm, making it ideal for medium- to high-voltage insulation applications.

Q3. Who is the primary customer base for MR. JO Electrokot – HB?

A3. It is best suited for:

  • Induction coil manufacturers
  • Electrical OEMs
  • Panel and transformer shops
  • Maintenance teams needing local electrical insulation
Q4. What color is it supplied in?

A4. Bright insulating blue, making it easy to visually identify insulated or high-voltage zones.

Q5. Does this product require a primer?

A5. No primer is needed. It bonds well directly to prepared metal or concrete surfaces.

Q6. What is the mix ratio?

A6. The correct mix ratio is 100:20 by weight (resin: hardener). Mix thoroughly until uniform.

Q7. What’s the typical pot life and working time?

A7.

  • Pot life: ~30–40 minutes at 25°C
  • Tack-free time: ~6–8 hours
  • Full cure: ~3–5 days
Q8. How should MR. JO Electrokot – HB be applied?

A8.

  • Brush or roller over cleaned, dry surface
  • Ensure uniform coat thickness
  • Recommended: 2 coats for consistent insulation coverage
Q9. What are the recommended surfaces?

A9.

  • Copper and aluminum induction coils
  • Metal switchgear panels
  • Concrete floors (for insulation zones) Ensure all surfaces are free from oil, rust, and moisture.
Q10. Can I apply it on hot components?

A10. No. Apply only on cool surfaces. Curing should occur at room temperature for proper insulation properties to develop.

Q11. Can MR. JO Electrokot – HB be sanded or recoated?

A11. Yes. Allow it to cure, then lightly abrade and clean before applying touch-up or recoat.

Q12. Will it crack or peel over time?

A12. No, not if applied correctly. It forms a tough, resilient insulation film when cured.

Q13. Is it flexible or rigid after curing?

A13. It forms a hard but slightly resilient film, capable of handling thermal expansion on metal substrates.

Q14. Can it be used in place of heat-shrink sleeves or varnishes?

A14. For many coil and busbar applications, yes. It offers superior coverage and chemical resistance.

Q15. How should I store the components?

A15.

  • Store in a cool, dry place
  • Keep containers sealed and out of sunlight
  • Shelf life: 12 months unopened
