- The mixture should be applied on a clean, rough and dry surface.
- This should be achieved by suitable mechanical and chemical means such as sandblasting Wire brushing or chemical etching.
- Suitable degreasing agent should be used to remove any grease, or oil traces on the surface.
- Use Part A & Part B in ratio 100:80 pbw.
- Mix the two components in small batches thoroughly for at least 2minutes. Apply the mix directly or using proper spatula to the pretreated surfaces.
- The joint components should be assembled as soon as the adhesive has been applied.
- Allow the material to cure for at least 24 hours before putting to use.
A1. MR. JO Tecbond – GLS is a general-purpose epoxy adhesive designed for bonding a wide range of materials such as metals, plastics, wood, ceramics, and composites—especially when you want the adhesive to flow slightly better into tighter joints without being runny.
Q2. How is MR. JO Tecbond – GLS different from MR. JO Tecbond – GS?A2. Both are general-purpose epoxy adhesives. However, GLS has slightly lower viscosity, which makes it better suited for:
- Tighter-fitting components
- Shallower gaps
- Applications needing a bit more spreadability without sagging
GS is preferred when slightly thicker bonding or minor gap-filling is required.
Q3. Is MR. JO Tecbond – GLS suitable for vertical or overhead applications?A3. While it’s moderately flowable, it may not be ideal for overhead or steep vertical surfaces unless supported. For non-sag use, products like MR. JO Tecbond-NS or MR. JO Tecbond-NSF are better suited.
Q4. What kind of applications is MR. JO Tecbond-GLS best for?A4. GLS is ideal for:
- Automotive assemblies
- Furniture repairs
- Small metal, wood, or ceramic part bonding
General-purpose shop-floor and maintenance use
Q5. What is the mixing ratio?A5. Mix 100 parts resin to 80 parts hardener by weight (100:80 PBW). Mix slowly and thoroughly until uniform.
Q6. What is the pot life and cure time?A6. Pot life is around 60–70 minutes at 25°C. Full cure occurs in 24 hours. Warmer environments will accelerate setting.
Q7. Can it be used for tight bonding surfaces with low clearance?A7. Yes. The slightly reduced viscosity helps wet out and penetrate close-fitting surfaces better than standard MR. JO Tecbond-GS.
Q8. Do I need to clamp parts after applying the adhesive?A8. For optimal bonding, light clamping or pressure is recommended until the adhesive sets. Avoid over-tightening that may squeeze out adhesive.
Q9. Is it suitable for sanding or machining after curing?A9. Yes. Once fully cured, GLS can be sanded, filed, or drilled as needed.
Q10. Is it resistant to moisture and moderate heat?A10. Yes. Once cured, it has good resistance to water and temperatures up to ~70°C, suitable for indoor use and light industrial exposure.
Q11. What’s the finish of the cured adhesive?A11. It typically cures to a slightly translucent, yellowish tone, depending on mix thickness. Not ideal for aesthetic clear bonding—use MR. JO Tecbond – CLR for that.
