Description

MR. JO Electrokot-HB is a two-component, solvent-free, high-build epoxy insulation coating engineered for the repair and maintenance of copper coils used in induction furnaces. It provides reliable electrical insulation and durable protection in demanding furnace operating conditions.

  • Color : Sky Blue
  • Pot life @25°C: 20-40 mins
  • Mixing Ratio: 100:20 PBW
  • Dielectric strength : > 20 kv/mm
  • Mixture consistency: Medium viscosity liquid
  • Excellent adhesion to copper substrates
  • High build capability through multiple coats
  • Repair and maintenance insulation of induction furnace copper coils
  • Localized insulation restoration on electrical components
  • High-stress electrical repair environments
Surface Preparation
  • Copper coil surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from oil, grease, dirt, or oxidation.
  • Degrease thoroughly using a suitable solvent.
  • Light mechanical abrasion is recommended where feasible to improve adhesion.
Application Method
  • Mix both components thoroughly for at least 2 minutes until a uniform mixture is obtained.
  • Apply by brush to the prepared surface.
  • Allow each coat to reach surface dryness before applying the next coat.
  • Multiple coats may be applied to achieve the required insulation thickness.
Q1. What is MR. JO Electrokot-HB primarily designed for?

A1.MR. JO Electrokot- HB is designed for repair and maintenance insulation of induction furnace copper coils. It is optimized for brush application in service and workshop environments where controlled application and dependable insulation performance are required.

Q2. Can MR. JO Electrokot-HB be used for OEM coil manufacturing?

A2.MR. JO Electrokot-HB is intended for repair and maintenance applications. For OEM production and spray application, MR. JO Electrokot-SP is recommended, as it is engineered specifically for production throughput and spray stability.

Q3. What application method is recommended for MR. JO Electrokot-HB?

A3.MR. JO Electrokot-HB is brush-applied. Brush application allows better control during localized repair, edge buildup, and insulation restoration on existing coils.

Q4. Can MR. JO Electrokot-HB be spray applied?

A4.MR. JO Electrokot-HB is not recommended for spray application. For spray application requirements, refer to MR. JO Electrokot-SP, which is specifically engineered for that purpose.

Q5. Is MR. JO Electrokot-HB applied directly on copper coils?

A5.Yes. Electrokot-HB is commonly applied directly on prepared copper substrates during repair and maintenance work, following proper surface cleaning and degreasing.

Q6. Is glass cloth wrapping required when using MR. JO Electrokot-HB?

A6.Glass cloth usage depends on the existing repair practice and coil design. Electrokot-HB can be used with or without glass cloth, depending on the repair methodology approved by the user.

Q7. What surface preparation is required before application?

A7.Copper surfaces should be:

  • Clean
  • Dry
  • Free from oil, grease, dirt, and oxidation

Degreasing and light mechanical abrasion are recommended where feasible to ensure optimal adhesion.

Q8. How many coats are typically required?

A8.The number of coats depends on:

  • Required insulation thickness
  • Coil geometry
  • Repair scope

Multiple brush coats may be applied to achieve the desired insulation build.

Q9. How long should we wait between coats?

A9.Allow each coat to become surface dry before applying the next coat. Typical inter-coat time at ambient conditions is 5–6 hours, depending on temperature and humidity.

Q10. What is the typical curing time?

A10.

  • Dust dry: ~10 hours @ 25 °C
  • Full cure: ~72 hours @ 25 °C

Higher temperatures will reduce curing time.

Q11. What level of electrical insulation performance can be expected?

A11. MR. JO Electrokot-HB provides reliable electrical insulation when applied at appropriate thickness. Typical dielectric strength values are >20 kV/mm under laboratory conditions.

Actual performance depends on coating thickness, surface preparation, and operating environment.

Q12. Is MR. JO Electrokot-HB suitable for high-temperature induction furnace environments?

A12.Yes. Electrokot-HB is formulated for electrical insulation under high electrical and thermal stress commonly encountered in induction furnace operation.

Q13. What color is MR. JO Electrokot-HB and why?

A13.MR. JO Electrokot-HB is supplied in sky blue color, used as a visual identifier for repair-grade insulation systems.

Q14. What packaging sizes are available?

A14.MR. JO Electrokot-HB is supplied in standard kit sizes. Please contact Jpoxy Polymers LLP for available pack configurations.

Q15. What safety precautions should be taken?

A15. Use appropriate personal protective equipment such as:

  • Gloves
  • Goggles
  • Protective clothing

Follow local regulations for handling and disposal.

Q16. Can MR. JO Electrokot-HB be used in substations or outdoor electrical installations?

A16.MR. JO Electrokot-HB is intended for induction furnace coil repair. For substation and outdoor electrical insulation repair, MR. JO Electrokot-HBR is recommended.

Q17. How does MR. JO Electrokot-HB fit into the Electrokot product range? A17.

  • MR. JO Electrokot-HB → Repair & maintenance (brush)
  • MR. JO Electrokot-SP → OEM production (spray)
  • MR. JO Electrokot-HBR → Substation / utility insulation
