- Substrate surfaces should be freed from laitance and dust by sand-blasting. In case sand-blasting is not possible, thorough abrading with a hard wire brush should be preferable.
- Use Part A & Part B in ratio 100:50 pbw. Mix the two components in small batches thoroughly for at least 2minutes. Apply the mix directly or using proper spatula to the pretreated surfaces. • The mixture should be applied as soon as the homogenous mix is achieved.
- Allow the material to cure for at least 24 hours before putting to use.
A1. MR. JO Artcoat-WF50 is a clear epoxy coating formulated especially for:
- Wood finishes on tables, trays, and counters
- Natural wooden artifacts, coasters, and handicrafts
- Decorative or functional wooden surfaces requiring a durable, glossy coat
A2. While both are 100:50 clear coatings:
- WF50 is optimized for wood — better absorption, flow, and bond with wooden substrates
- WF50 is often used where grain visibility and surface enhancement are important
A3. Yes — it bonds well with most wooden surfaces including teak, pine, mango wood, acacia, and MDF boards.
Q4. Can it be used for furniture or countertops?A4. Yes — especially where a glossy, protective finish is desired. However, avoid hot utensils or UV exposure unless overcoated with a compatible top layer.
Q5. How do I apply MR. JO Artcoat-WF50? A5.- Mix resin and hardener in 100:50 ratio by weight
- Stir thoroughly and apply on a clean, dry, dust-free wooden surface
- Use a brush, foam applicator, or pour-and-spread technique
- Allow it to self-level
- Remove air bubbles with a gentle heat gun
A6. Yes — just ensure the stain or paint is fully cured and compatible with epoxy (oil-based coatings may affect adhesion).
Q7. What kind of finish does it give?A7. A rich, glossy, glass-like finish that enhances natural grain and depth of color in wood.
Q8. Can it be used for vertical surfaces or edges?A8. MR. JO Artcoat-WF50 has moderate thixotropy. For better hold on verticals, apply in thin coats or use masking supports to avoid sagging.
Q9. What is the working time and cure time?A9.
- Pot life: ~30–40 minutes at 25°C
- Tack-free: ~6–8 hours
- Full cure: ~48–72 hours
- Sandable or recoatable after 12–18 hours (if required)
A10. It is formulated with anti-yellowing additives, but some yellowing may occur with prolonged UV exposure. For outdoor or sunlit areas, consider a UV-stable topcoat.
Q11. Can I polish it after curing?A11. Yes — once cured, it can be buffed or polished to enhance gloss even further.
Q12. Is it food-safe?A12. It is not food certified. For surfaces intended for direct food contact, apply a certified food-safe topcoat.
Q13. What’s the shelf life? A13. 12 months when stored in sealed containers in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
