- Surfaces should be freed from laitance and dust by sand-blasting. In case sand-blasting is not possible, thorough abrading with a hard wire brush should be preferable.
- Suitable degreasing agent should be used to remove any grease, oil or traces on the surface.
- Repair the surface if damaged. Allow 2-3 hours for surface of repaired area to dry. Choose a suitable product from Jpoxy’s JO range of Adhesives for repairing.
- Apply primer for better adhesion on substrate. Allow 4-5 hours for surface of repaired area to dry. Choose a suitable product from Jpoxy’s JO range of Primers.
- Mix all the two components provided in kit thoroughly for at least 2minutes. Apply the mix directly by pouring and spreading with the help of trowel.
A1. MR. JO Wallkot-HB is a solvent-free, high build epoxy wall paint/coating designed for hygienic industrial walls requiring abrasion resistance, washability and long-term protection. It provides a smooth glossy finish suitable for clean rooms, pharma, food processing, laboratories, engineering facilities and other industrial environments.
Q2. What makes MR. JO Wallkot-HB different from regular wall paints?A2. Unlike conventional wall paints, MR. JO Wallkot-HB forms a dense high-build epoxy coating that offers:
- Better abrasion resistance
- Waterproof protection
- Resistance to repeated wet cleaning
- Resistance to disinfectants and detergents
- Long service life
- Seamless hygienic finish
It is designed as a performance wall coating rather than a decorative paint.
Q3. Why are regular epoxy floor coatings not suitable for walls?
Q3. Standard floor epoxy coatings are generally self-leveling and may sag or flow on vertical surfaces. MR. JO Wallkot-HB is specially modified for wall application with non-sag and thixotropic properties that help maintain proper film build on walls.
Q4. Where can Mr. JO Wallkot-HB be used?A4. MR. JO Wallkot-HB can be used in:
- Clean rooms
- Pharmaceutical facilities
- Food processing plants
- Laboratories
- Hospitals
- Kitchens
- Engineering workshops
- Industrial walls
- Utility rooms
- Basements
- Water treatment areas
- Manufacturing facilities
A5. The coating provides a smooth glossy finish designed for easy cleaning and hygienic maintenance.
Q6. Why is a glossy finish preferred for clean room walls?A6. Glossy surfaces are easier to clean and sanitize compared to matte textured surfaces. Smooth glossy walls reduce dust retention and help maintain hygienic conditions in controlled environments.
Q7. Is MR. JO Wallkot-HB washable?A7.Yes. The cured coating can withstand:
- Wet scrubbing
- Pressure washing
- Steam cleaning
- Daily disinfectant cleaning
- Detergent washing
This makes it suitable for areas requiring regular sanitation.
Q8. Is the coating resistant to disinfectants and cleaning chemicals?A8. Yes. MR. JO Wallkot-HB resists:
- Detergents
- Disinfectants
- Hypochlorite cleaning solutions
- Mild acids
- Mild alkalis
However, it is not designed for aggressive chemical exposure.
Q9. Is MR. JO Wallkot-HB solvent free?A9. Yes. The product is solvent-free with nearly no VOC, making it suitable for indoor maintenance and repair applications where odor and ventilation concerns are important.
Q10. Does the coating support hygienic environments?A10. Yes. The coating creates a smooth non-porous surface that is easy to clean and sanitize. The glossy seamless finish discourages dirt accumulation and mold growth.
Q11. Can the coating be applied on damp walls?
A11. MR. JO Wallkot-HB should preferably be applied on dry, properly prepared substrates. For mildly damp surfaces, use of is recommended before application.
Q12. Is primer necessary before application?
Q12. Primer usage is always recommended for best adhesion and long-term performance. works well as a primer system for Wallkot-HB.
Typical systems:
- 1 coat MR. JO Eco Primer-P50i + 2 coats MR. JO Wallkot-HB
- 3 coats MR. JO Wallkot-HB on properly prepared dry substrates
A13. The coating can be applied on:
- Concrete walls
- Cement plaster
- Cement board
- Gypsum board
- Metal
- FRP panels
Application on tiles is possible after proper surface grinding or roughening for adhesion.
Q14. Can the coating cover minor wall imperfections?A14.Yes. MR. JO Wallkot-HB can help cover minor pinholes and small surface imperfections due to its high build nature. However, proper wall finishing before coating is recommended for best appearance.
Q15. What is the recommended coating thickness?A15. A typical single coat build is approximately 70–110 microns depending on application method and substrate condition.
Q16. How many coats are recommended?A16. A minimum of 2 coats is recommended. For improved color depth and finish, 2–3 coats may be applied.
Q17. What is the recoat time?A17. Typical recoat time is approximately 5–6 hours depending on temperature and ventilation conditions.
Q18. What is the touch dry time?A18. The coating generally becomes touch dry within 3–4 hours under normal conditions.
Q19. How long does full curing take?A19. Under hot weather conditions (35–40°C), the coating may achieve full cure within 24 hours. At cooler temperatures around 25°C, allowing approximately 3 days for full cure is recommended.
Q20. How should the product be mixed?A20. MR. JO Wallkot-HB is a 2-component epoxy system supplied as:
- 3 kg pack (2.5 kg Part A + 0.5 kg Part B)
- 6 kg pack (5 kg Part A + 1 kg Part B)
Due to limited pot life, small quantity mixing is recommended.
Example:
- 250 g Part A + 50 g Part B
- 500 g Part A + 100 g Part B
Mixed material should preferably be used within approximately 15 minutes.
Q21. What application methods can be used?A21. The coating can be applied using:
- Roller
- Brush
- Airless spray
A22. The substrate should be:
- Sound
- Clean
- Dry
- Dust free
Loose material, oil, contaminants and weak layers should be removed before application.
Q23. Can the coating be used outdoors?A23.The coating performs best in interior and shaded exterior environments. Like most epoxy systems, prolonged UV exposure may cause gradual color change or yellowing over time.
Q24. What temperature resistance does the coating offer?A24.The coating performs well in service temperatures up to approximately 60°C. Direct continuous heat exposure is not recommended.
Q25. Is the coating flexible?A25. MR. JO Wallkot-HB has slight flexibility which helps accommodate minor substrate movement.
Q26. What colors are available?A26. The standard offering is Grey. For larger custom orders, selected RAL shades in grey, blue and green may be available.
Q27. What coverage can be expected?A27. Approximate coverage:
- 1 kg mixed material covers around 40 sq. ft. per coat
- 6 kg pack covers approximately 240 sq. ft. per coat
Actual coverage depends on substrate condition and application thickness.
Q28. How long does the coating last?A28. With proper surface preparation and application, the coating can provide many years of service. The surface can also be recoated in future to restore color brightness and appearance.
Q29. Is MR. JO Wallkot-HB suitable for clean rooms?A29. Yes. The seamless glossy surface, easy sanitization, washability and low VOC nature make it suitable for clean room wall applications.
