Smoother Concrete, Smarter Priming: Why MR. JO Primer-LVC Is Made for Low-Porosity Floors
Smoother Concrete, Smarter Priming: Why MR. JO Primer-LVC Is Made for Low-Porosity Floors
Epoxy floors fail more often because of what lies underneath than what’s on top.
And when you’re working with dense, power-trowelled, or factory-finished concrete, you face a common but invisible enemy:
Low porosity that blocks primer penetration.
This leads to a dangerous illusion — the floor looks smooth and ready, but epoxy coatings don’t bond well and may delaminate in weeks.
Enter MR. JO Primer – LVC — a low-viscosity epoxy primer designed to get into the tiniest pores and ensure your floor bonds like it should.
🧱 The Challenge with Smooth Concrete
Smooth concrete is often:
- Power-trowelled to save time during construction
- Finished with curing compounds that seal the surface
- Naturally dense due to mix design
These conditions reduce porosity — which means your regular primers or topcoats can’t grip properly, even if the surface looks clean and hard.
The result?
- Peeling floors
- Blistering under load
- Bubbles due to trapped air or moisture
- High failure rate in industrial coatings

💡 Why MR. JO Primer-LVC?
- Ultra-low viscosity for deep pore penetration
- High coverage – up to 7–8 m²/kg on smooth concrete
- Excellent adhesion even on marginal surfaces
- Solvent-free – no odor, no fire risk
- Compatible with all Mr. JO topcoats and SL systems
Best suited for:
- Power-trowelled floors in warehouses or showrooms
- Old concrete with polish or surface densifiers
- Machine rooms and data centers with dense floors
- Indoor spaces where solvent odor is a concern
🛠️ How to Use MR. JO Primer-LVC
1. Surface prep:
Even smooth floors need light mechanical abrasion (grinding preferred) to remove waxy or sealed layers.
2. Mix the primer:
100:50 by weight (resin:hardener)
3. Application:
Roll or brush on evenly across the floor.
Due to its low viscosity, it may absorb quickly — apply a second coat if needed to seal completely.
4. Wait time:
6–8 hours for tack-free cure @ 25°C. Proceed to topcoat or SL within 24 hours.
📊 Real-World Coverage
- Smooth surface: 7–8 m²/kg
- Lightly rough surface: 5–6 m²/kg
- Packed in: 1 kg, 5 kg, and 20 kg kits
💡 Pro tip: If applying SL or HB after 24 hours, lightly sand or abrade the primer surface before recoating.

📍 Where It’s Being Used
- Retail stores & malls – over smooth concrete
- IT Parks & Commercial lobbies – under SL1 and SL2
- Laboratories – clean floors where porosity is low
- Old floors with previous polish or overuse – as a bonding bridge
💬 Customer Voice
“Our earlier floors kept peeling at the edges — turns out the concrete was too smooth. LVC solved the issue — bonded clean, no bubbling.”
— Flooring Contractor, Pune
“Amazing flow. We used it before a 1 mm SL floor. No pinholes, no peel-back. It’s our new standard for commercial jobs.”
