Tougher Than Rust, Waterproof as a Tank: MR. JO ProtectoKot-BLK in Action
Tougher Than Rust, Waterproof as a Tank: MR. JO ProtectoKot-BLK in Action
Bridges, STPs, silos, and sea-coast installations face one enemy in common — corrosion and water ingress. Add to that chemical fumes, saline spray, moisture-laden concrete, and you’ve got a real threat to longevity.
But what if one solvent-free epoxy coating could do it all — seal, strengthen, waterproof, and protect?
Enter MR. JO ProtectoKot-BLK — a coal tar epoxy hybrid coating designed to form thick, chemical- and water-resistant films that outlast paints, beat the elements, and bring down cost per square meter.
🧩 The Problem
Most industrial paints suffer from:
- Thin film build (lower durability)
- Porosity, allowing water and vapors to seep in
- Solvent evaporation, causing shrinkage and smell
- Limited chemical resistance, especially in salt or wastewater settings
In critical infrastructure like:
- Effluent tanks
- Underground structures
- STP plants
- Marine pipelines
- Chemical silos
- …and vehicle chassis
Failure isn’t an option.
🧪 The Solution: MR. JO ProtectoKot-BLK
MR. JO ProtectoKot-BLK is a 100:100 PBW two-component solvent-free epoxy + coal tar system.
Coal tar contributes to waterproofing, chemical resistance, and cost-effectiveness, while the epoxy provides film strength, adhesion, and durability.
Together, they create a dense, impervious barrier coating for:
- Water tanks
- Pipelines
- Basements
- Bridges
- Rooftops
- Silos
- Swimming pools

⚙️ How It’s Used
✅ Surface Preparation
- Steel: Sandblasting, degreasing (trichloroethylene), hot air drying.
- Concrete: Sandblasting / wire brushing or 15% HCl acid etch, water wash, and hot air drying.
Cleanliness, roughness, and dryness = key for adhesion.

✅ Application Methods
🟦 Option 1: Standard Waterproofing / Coating
- 1 primer coat + 2 top coats
- Coating thickness: 350–400 microns total
- Apply next coat after prior is tack-free
- Use brush/roller
🟨 Option 2: Glass Fiber-Reinforced Lining
- Use epoxy-compatible CSM, tissue, or woven glass
- Apply ProtectoKot-BLK, place fiber, overlay with another coat
🟥 Option 3: Screed & Mortar Lining
- Mix ratio: 100 (Part A): 100 (Part B): 600–800 (Quartz)
- Apply primer coat
- While tacky, trowel 3–5 mm of epoxy mortar
- Finish with BLK seal coat
🔄 Cure Profile
- Pot life: ~30 min for 500g at 25°C
- Touch dry: ~6–8 hrs
- Full mechanical strength: ~72 hrs at 25–30°C
- Total cure: 7 days
Do not apply below 20°c
