Description

MR. JO Electrokot-SP is a two-component, Spray-Applied Electrical Insulation for Induction Furnace ,solvent-free, high-build epoxy electrical insulation, coating engineered for spray application in induction furnace coil manufacturing.

  • Color : Grey
  • Pot life @25°C: 15-35 mins
  • Mixing Ratio: 100:20 PBW
  • Dielectric strength : > 20 kv/mm
  • Mixture consistency: Medium viscosity liquid
  • Consistent film formation on complex coil geometries
  • Faster inter-coat curing for shorter cycle times
  • Induction furnace copper coil insulation — OEM manufacturing
  • New coil production requiring controlled insulation build
  • High-throughput coil coating operations
Surface Preparation
  • Copper coil surfaces must be clean, dry,and free from oil, grease, dirt, or oxidation.
  • Degrease thoroughly using a suitable solvent.
  • Light mechanical abrasion is recommended where feasible to improve adhesion.
Application Method
  •  Mix both components thoroughly for at least 2 minutes until a uniform mixture is obtained.
  • Apply using suitable spray equipment (airless / air-assisted airless / conventional spray depending on coil geometry).
  • Apply uniform coats to achieve the desired build per coat.
  • Allow sufficient inter-coat time before applying subsequent coats.
  • Multiple coats may be applied to achieve the required insulation thickness.
Q1. What is MR. JO Electrokot-SP designed for?

A1. MR. JO Electrokot-SP is designed for OEM production spray application of electrical insulation on induction furnace copper coils. It is engineered to deliver higher build per coat, reduced sagging, and faster coating cycles in factory environments.

Q2. How is MR. JO Electrokot-SP different from MR. JO Electrokot-HB? A2

Aspect

MR. JO Electrokot-HB MR. JO Electrokot-SP
Primary use Repair & maintenance OEM production
Application Brush Spray
Focus Controlled repair Throughput & repeatability
Sag resistance Moderate High
Coating cycle Flexible Optimized

Electrokot-SP is not a replacement for HB; it is a production-engineered variant.

Q3. Can MR. JO Electrokot-SP be applied directly on copper coils?

A3. Yes. Electrokot-SP is applied directly on prepared copper substrates following appropriate surface preparation.

In some OEM processes, it has been successfully applied without glass cloth wrapping, subject to OEM insulation design validation.

Q4. Is glass cloth wrapping mandatory when using MR. Electrokot-SP?

A4. Glass cloth usage depends on:

  • Coil design
  • Operating conditions
  • OEM insulation philosophy

Electrokot-SP has been validated in OEM production both with and without glass cloth, following internal approval processes.

Q5. What problem does MR. JO Electrokot-SP solve in production?

A5. Electrokot-SP addresses common production issues such as:

  • Excessive number of spray coats
  • Sagging during application
  • Long inter-coat intervals
  • Cleaning and rework due to defects

It enables fewer coats, stable film build, and faster throughput.

Q6. How many coats are typically required?

A6. The number of coats depends on:

  • Target insulation thickness
  • Spray parameters
  • Coil geometry

In validated OEM production use, 7–8 coats were sufficient to achieve insulation thickness previously requiring 11–12 coats with conventional systems.

Q7. What insulation thickness can be achieved?

A7. MR. JO Electrokot-SP is suitable for building high insulation thicknesses (e.g., ~500 μm total DFT) through multiple spray coats, depending on design requirements.

Q8. Does MR. JO Electrokot-SP reduce coating cycle time?

A8. Yes. By enabling:

  • Higher DFT per coat
  • Faster inter-coat curing
  • Elimination of sag-related rework

Electrokot-SP has reduced total coil coating time from 3–4 days to 1–2 days in OEM production use

Q9. What spray equipment is recommended?

A9. Electrokot-SP can be applied using:

  • Airless spray
  • Air-assisted airless spray
  • Conventional spray systems

Final equipment selection depends on coil geometry and factory practice.

Q10. Are viscosity or mix ratio changes required for spraying?

A10. No. Electrokot-SP does not require changes to:

  • Mixing ratio
  • Application viscosity
  • Standard spray equipment

This minimizes retraining and process disruption.

Q11. What electrical insulation performance can be expected?

A11. Electrokot-SP provides reliable electrical insulation when applied at appropriate thickness.

Typical dielectric strength values are above 20 kV/mm under laboratory conditions. Actual insulation performance depends on thickness, substrate, and operating environment.

Q12. Does Electrokot-SP maintain coil geometry during coating?

A12. Yes. Enhanced sag resistance helps:

  • Maintain inter-turn clearances
  • Prevent coating run-off
  • Preserve designed coil geometry

This reduces mechanical correction and rework.

Q13. What curing time is required?

A13.Typical curing times:

  • Dust dry: ~8–10 hours @ 25 °C
  • Full cure: ~72 hours @ 25 °C

Higher temperatures reduce curing time.

Q14. Is MR. JO Electrokot-SP suitable for repair work?

A14. Electrokot-SP is optimized for production spraying. For repair, touch-up, or brush application, MR. JO Electrokot-HB is recommended.

Q15. What color is MR. JO Electrokot-SP and why?

A15. Electrokot-SP is supplied in grey color, used to visually identify OEM production-grade insulation systems and avoid confusion with repair or utility products.

Q16. What approvals or validation are required before adoption?

A16. OEMs typically validate MR. JO Electrokot-SP through:

  • Spray trials on actual coil geometry
  • Electrical insulation testing
  • Process stability evaluation

MR. JO provides technical support during validation.

Q17. How does MR. JO Electrokot-SP fit into the Electrokot platform?  A17.

Each grade is chemically aligned but application-engineered separately.
