Description

MR. JO Gelkot-WHT is a two-part white epoxy gelcoat system. It has high viscosity and it is fast curing. It is solvent-free and easy to apply. This gelcoat has good thixotropic flow, so it stays in place on vertical surfaces. Also, it resists chemicals very well. You can use it on tacky gelcoats, sheet metal tools, and foundry patterns. Mix it with 14 PHR hardener. So, it’s a strong and safe choice for smooth, clean finishes.

  • Color: White
  • Pot life @25°C: 20-30mins
  • Mixing Ratio: 100:14 PBW
  • Mixture consistency: Thixotropic white paste
  • Optics: Opaque
  • Working model for ceramic industry
  • Gelcoat
  • Negative & laminating molds
  • Foundry patterns
Surface Preparation
  • Surfaces should be freed from laitance and dust by sand-blasting. In case sandblasting is not possible, thorough abrading with a hard wire brush should be preferable.
  • Suitable degreasing agent should be used to remove any grease, oil or traces on the surface
Application Method
  • Take small quantities of gel coat resin and hardener parts by weight as recommended.
  • Mix the two components together thoroughly for at least 2 minutes so as to achieve uniform mixing and thorough consistency of the mix
  • Apply mold releasing agent on the surface of the mold and then apply 2 – 3 coats of the gel coat, allow it to cure
  • Apply laminating system and casting system.
Q1. What is MR. Gelkot – WHT used for?

A1. Used extensively for:

  • Ceramic pattern work
  • Jigs and laminating moulds
  • Foundry and casting patterns
  • Negative moulds for resins or composites
Q2. Why is white gel coat preferred in ceramics?

A2. White allows for clear visibility of defects, scratches, or dust, making it ideal for quality-conscious model-making.

Q3. What is its mix ratio?

A3. 100:14 by weight (resin : hardener). Ensure accurate mixing.

Q4. Is it similar to any well-known systems?

A4. Yes, it is similar in formulation and function to Araldite SV412 with HY2404.

Q5. How should MR. JO Gelkot-WHT be applied? A5.
  • Mix thoroughly and apply by brush or spatula
  • Ideal thickness: 0.5–1 mm
  • Apply uniformly and let it cure at room temperature
Q6. Can I pour epoxy or composite backing layers over it?

A6. Yes. Once tack-free, it can be overlaid with reinforced or casting layers.

Q7. Does it offer abrasion resistance?

A7. Yes. It is designed for repeat-use tooling and mould systems.

Q8. What color is the cured gel coat?

A8. A bright white, non-yellowing finish.

Q9. Can it be used outdoors?

A9. Indoor or protected use is recommended. For UV stability, use appropriate coatings or covers.

Q10. Is it brittle after curing?

A10. No. It retains some flexibility with good mechanical toughness.
