Description
MR. JO Eco Primer is a two-part, solvent-free epoxy primer. It is flowable, non-porous, and easy to apply. Moreover, it gives strong adhesion and protection. You can use it on wet, moist, and damp surfaces. Therefore, it is a smart choice for tough site conditions.
- Good Adhesive strength
- Good flowability
- Sufficient working time
- Good mechanical properties
- Resistance to dynamic loading
- Excellent water proofing properties
- Suitable for underprepared substrate
- Sealing minute pinholes
- In between substrate & topcoat to enhance
- adhesion
- Structure strengthening
- The mixture should be applied on a clean and rough surface. For good results, it is required that the substrate is free from loose particles.
- Suitable degreasing agent should be used to remove any grease, oil or traces on the surface.
- Surfaces should be freed from laitance and dust by sand-blasting. In case sandblasting is not possible, thorough abrading with a hard wire brush should be preferable. Suitable degreasing agent should be used to remove any grease, oil or traces on the surface.
- Mix the two components together thoroughly for at least 2 minutes so as to achieve uniform mixing and thorough consistency of the mix. Apply the mix using brush or spatula to the pretreated surfaces.
- Allow 4-5 hours for surface to dry and 24 hours to achieve full strength.
A1. MR. JO Eco Primer is a two-component, fast-setting epoxy primer designed for:
- Self-leveling epoxy flooring systems
- Projects with time constraints
- Sites where fast recoating is needed It helps seal the concrete and provides basic adhesion enhancement, especially when timelines are tight.
A2. The mix ratio is 100:50 by weight (resin: hardener). It must be mixed thoroughly and used quickly due to its short working time.
Q3. How is MR. JO Eco Primer different from MR. JO Primer – MVC or LVC?A3.
Feature | Eco Primer | MVC | LVC |
---|---|---|---|
Dry Time |
Fast (~1–2 hrs) | Standard (4–6 hrs) | Standard (4–6 hrs) |
Viscosity | Medium-low | Medium | Low |
Moisture Tolerance | Slight | Low | Low |
Coverage | ~4–5 m²/kg | ~4–5 m²/kg | ~4–5 m²/kg |
Cost | More economical | Mid | Mid |
Eco Primer is best suited when speed and affordability are priorities.
Q4. Is MR. JO Eco Primer suitable for damp surfaces?A4. It can tolerate slightly damp concrete, but not wet or waterlogged surfaces. Remove all standing water before application.
Q5. What types of projects or users benefit from using MR. JO Eco Primer?A5.
- Flooring contractors under time pressure
- Self-leveling floor installers
- Projects where fast turnaround is critical
- Budget-sensitive jobs requiring a primer before overlay
A6.
- Pot Life: ~15–25 minutes at 25°C
- Tack-Free Time: ~1–2 hours
- Overlay Time: As soon as surface becomes tack-free (generally <2 hours) Work in small batches and apply quickly due to its fast reactivity.
A7.
- Prepare surface (clean, dry/surface-damp, dust-free)
- Mix resin and hardener (100:50 PBW)
- Apply using roller or brush
- Recoat with self-leveling floor once primer is tack-free
A8. On very absorbent or old concrete, a second coat may be required. Alternately, thin the first coat slightly to improve penetration and coverage.
Q9. What if I miss the recoat window?A9.
- If overcoated within 6 hours, no sanding needed
- After that, light sanding or mechanical abrasion is advised for proper bonding of the topcoat
A10. It is ideal under self-leveling systems. For heavier-duty coatings, wet surfaces, or coving, consider MR. JO Primer-MVC, LVC, or UPS depending on conditions.
Q11. How should I store MR. JO Eco Primer?A11.
- Store in cool, dry, sealed containers
- Avoid high humidity or direct sunlight
- Shelf life: 12 months unopened
